Timothy Rice has 50 years’ experience as an Organist. He is currently Director of Music at St. John’s Church, Boldre, in the New Forest, a post he has held since 2015, and was previously Director of Music at a neighbouring parish for over 30 years.
He began his life in church music at the age of six as a chorister at his local church; the first few weeks being spent near the organist at the console, watching and listening in fascination at the skill of the organist and the sound of the instrument. At 13 he took his first organist’s post, under the guidance and encouragement of a vicar who was also a gifted church musician and conductor of a major choral society; the rest, as they say, is history.
In 1989, Timothy became an Associate of the Royal College of Organists and he is also an Associate of the London College of Music.
In addition to his regular organ playing commitments, Timothy has been accompanist to Lymington Choral Society since 2013, Ringwood Choral Society from 2015 to 2017, and is a freelance organist, recitalist and accompanist.
Timothy is available to play for services, concerts and recitals across the south of England and beyond -
