Timothy Rice has over 40 years’ experience as an Organist. He is currently Director of Music at St. John’s Church, Boldre, in the New Forest, a post he has held since September 2015, and was previously Director of Music at a neighbouring parish for over 30 years.
He began his life in church music at the age of six as a choir boy at his local church; the first few weeks were spent sitting beside the organist at the console, watching and listening in fascination at the skill of the organist and the sound of the instrument. At 13 he took his first organist’s post, under the guidance and encouragement of a Vicar who was also a gifted church musician and conductor of a major choral society; the rest, as they say, is history.
In 1989, Timothy gained his Associateship of the Royal College of Organists and he is also an Associate of the London College of Music.
In addition to his regular organ playing commitments, Timothy enjoys being Accompanist to Lymington Choral Society and previously Ringwood Choral Society (Cantus), as well as being a freelance organist, recitalist and accompanist.
Timothy is available to play for services, concerts and recitals in Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex, Wiltshire and, subject to availability, further afield as well -
